Manchester Wolves News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 15, 2004) - The Manchester Wolves, New England's newest professional football team, will officially get their 2004 season started this Thursday, March 18, with the squad's first training camp practice session. "Midnight Madness" with the Wolves begins at 12:01 a.m. at Rising Stars Sportcenter in Bedford, NH, the team's official practice facility.

The Wolves (arenafootball2) enter their inaugural season in New Hampshire with high expectations under the direction of new Head Coach Rik Richards. Richards, who led the Charleston Swamp Foxes (af2) to a 9-7 record in 2003, moved to New England for one reason - to guide the Wolves to an ArenaCup championship. He and his staff have assembled a potent mixture of veteran talent and young playmakers that will be the foundation for a winning Wolves football team in 2004.

Former local college stars like the University of New Hampshire's John Paul and Mike Wells and former NFL players like Vernon Crawford (New England Patriots) are just a few examples of the explosive cast of players Manchester has vying for a spot on its opening day, 21-man roster.

After Thursday's midnight event, the Wolves will begin all other training camp practice sessions at 11 p.m. The Wolves will have 35 players to start camp, but need to trim the roster down to 30 on the third day of camp (March 20). The final cut to 21 players (19-active, 2-inactive) must be made by 3 p.m. on Monday, March 29.

"I can't wait to get this thing started on Thursday," Wolves Head Coach Rik Richards said. "I know the fans are getting excited as well. The coaching staff and I are going to have a lot of tough decisions to make to trim this roster, but our job is to construct a team that will help us win games."

The Wolves kick off their inaugural season in New Hampshire on Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. against the Quad City Steamwheelers at the Verizon Wireless Arena. That night will truly be historic as the Manchester Wolves host the first arena football game ever played at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Don't miss the Wolves first season of hard-hitting action in New Hampshire. Season ticket packages for the Wolves are available for dream, lower bowl and upper bowl seats and start as low as $112.
