Central Valley Coyotes News Release

The Coyotes continued their third straight day of two-a-days with an intense morning session and a hard hitting night session. The team was in high spirits despite their legs feeling tired.

Here's a look at some highlights from Saturday at training camp:

Play of the Day: During team offense, fullback Marshall Blount took an inside dive and was quickly met at the line of scrimmage by linebacker Kevin Nelson with a hit that everyone, including the fans heard in the practice facility. The hit was so hard Blount came off the field with a slight crack in his helmet.

Player of the Day: Ricky Leung-Wai, the third year veteran dominated one-one-one drills throughout both sessions today at Exhibit Hall One. The veteran not only dominated, but also took time after practice to work with rookies on feet work and hand techniques.

Quote of the Day: Offensive/defensive line coach Sean Kelly on the importance of conditioning: "I'm stressing being balanced this year. During practice we can't come out strong, then get weak and come back strong in the end, we have to be consistent throughout the entire practice. The motto we are going by on the line is, in order to win them all you have to win them all [in the trenches]."

Morris says...: On the coaching staff gelling together: "That's the best part about this, we work really good together as a staff and I think that trickles down to the players. We have great communications between the staff and myself."

Atmosphere: The excitement level was high as the Coyotes continued their second day in pads. There was a lot of hitting go on in one-on-one drills and during team sessions. The excitement of the hitting seemed to get the crowd fired up on the sidelines.

Other Notes: The Coyotes will take the Sunday morning session off and will come back to practice at 4:00 p.m.
