ESTERO, Fla. - Mathew Sisca tallied two goals and two assists to lead the Orlando Solar Bears to a 5-1 victory over the Florida Everblades Wednesday night at Germain Arena.
After a slow start, the Orlando Solar Bears stuck first as Dan Gendur sent a pass from behind the net to Nick Peterson whose one timer would beat 'Blades goaltender John Muse for the 1-0 lead.
In the closing seconds of the period, the Solar Bears snuck in another goal by Bryce Lampman. Lampman picked up a rebound in front and slid the puck past Muse for the goal, with a second remaining in the period. The goal came on the power play and gave Orlando a 2-0 lead after the first.
The Solar Bears continued their scoring streak in the second period as Michael Neal picked up a rebound in front, and flipped a shot off of Muse's blocker for the goal, to extend the lead to 3-0.
The 'Blades didn't stay quiet for long. Moments later, David Rutherford took the puck from the right side circle to the top of the crease, steered a backhanded opportunity past Orlando netminder John Curry to pull Florida within one at the end of the second period.
Five minutes into the third period, the Bears came out strong once again adding to their lead, when Matt Sisca took the puck to the crease and beat Muse on the shortside post giving the Solar Bears a thee goal advantage.
Sisca scored his second goal of the night on the breakaway. Sisca made a couple of deke moves on his approach to the net, and flipped the puck around Muse and into the net to seal the Bears 5-1 victory.
John Curry earns the win stopping 30 of 31 shots faced while John Muse takes the loss allowing 5 goals on 29 shots.
