Simpson Returns to Stockton

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that goalie Kent Simpson has been reassigned from the Sound Tigers to the Thunder by the Islanders.

Simpson, 22, played in his first game for the Thunder on Saturday, November 22 and earned the win in his Thunder debut. Simpson stopped 27 of 31 shots and picked up his second win of the season after recording a win with the Colorado Eagles earlier this year.

The former second round draft selection by the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2010, was reassigned to the Sound Tigers on November 25 but did start for the Sound Tigers during his three-game stint with the club last week.

The Edmonton, Alberta native has played 34 AHL games in his career, all with the Blackhawks AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, posting a 12-15-2 record with a 3.58 goals-against-average and a .895 save-percentage.

The Thunder host the Alaska Aces for three-straight beginning on Thursday at Stockton Arena when the team will celebrate Thor's Birthday with the first 500 receiving Thor buttons. On Friday the tenth anniversary of the team will be celebrated with the first 500 fans receiving a Thunder pennant while Saturday will see Hockey with Heart make a return and the first 500 fans 18-years and over will receive a Thunder Hockey with Heart blanket.
