Walleye Notes

Ø Fifteen will get it done! Toledo's offense led the way this past week scoring fifteen goals over two games. Friday night Toledo posted three goals in each period to down Orlando 9-6. Saturday night, the Walleye raced out to a 5-0 lead just a minute into the second period and held off Kalamazoo 6-4.

Ø Tying a Record! Friday night Toledo tied a Walleye record by scoring nine goals in the 9-6 win. The Walleye set that record on December 31, 2012 in a 9-4 win at Fort Wayne.

Ø Hat Trick! Forward Tyler Barnes collected the first Toledo hat trick of the season Friday night against Orlando. It was first three goal game for a Walleye player since Trevor Parkes went for three in a 7-1 win over Evansville March 3, 2012.

Ø Goals Everywhere! Since losing to Greenville 6-3 on November 21, Toledo has scored 21 goals in the last three games. That is the best three game stretch in Walleye history. The previous best was 19 scored over three games January 10-15, 2010.

Ø Getting out to a Fast Start! Toledo scored first in both games this past week and are 11-0-0 when they get the first goal of a game. Colorado (8-0-0) is the only other team in the ECHL to have wins every time they have scored first.

Ø Let's go East! Toledo goes out east for a pair of games this week starting Thursday in Reading. The Royals took the first meeting 4-3 in a shootout on November 16. Saturday night, Toledo will skate into Elmira to take on the Jackals. It will be the first time since March 10, 2012 that the two will meet in Elmira. The Walleye are 8-9-0 all-time against the Jackals.

Walleye Player of the Week:

Tyler Barnes (3 goals - 1 assist = 4 points)

Walleye Goaltender of the Week:

Jeff Lerg (2-0-0, 5.00 gaa, .878 save %)
