Stockton Thunder News Release

West Valley City, UT. - The Stockton Thunder, owned by the Calgary Flames and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that goalie Kent Simpson has been reassigned from the Thunder to the Sound Tigers by the Islanders.

Simpson, 22, has played seven of the last eight for the Thunder and has posted a 7-16-1 record with a 3.25 goals-against-average and a .904 save-percentage in 24 appearances with the Thunder and Colorado Eagles this season.

After beginning the season with the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Simpson was acquired by the Islanders in an October 4th trade that brought defenseman Nick Leddy to the Islanders. The Edmonton, Alberta native has received three calls up to Bridgeport this season and has played in two games for the team..

Simpson, a former second round draft selection by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, heads back to Bridgeport after the Islanders traded goaltender David Leggio to the Arizona Coyotes prior to the NHL trade deadline earlier today.

The Thunder return home for the final three games of the year against the Idaho Steelheads on March 13, 14 and 15. For tickets call (209) 373-1500 or visit StocktonThunder.com.
