SOUTH BEND, IN - Michael Johnson threw 28 pitches in two innings Saturday night.

The Great Lakes Loons left-hander would like to take back the first one.

Johnson surrendered a solo home run to Joe Munoz on the first pitch he threw in the bottom of the sixth inning accounting for the lone run of the game in a 1-0 shutout win for the South Bend Silver Hawks.

The loss spoiled a solid pitching performance by the Loons. Brandon Martinez started and surrendered just two hits over five innings, scattering a season-high four walks.

Johnson (4-3) struck out four over his two innings. Ralston Cash followed with a perfect eighth inning with two strikeouts.

Blake Perry (7-4) threw six shutout frames for the victory. Bud Jeter, Jose Jose and Nick Sarianides followed with one scoreless inning each. Sarianides qualified for his first save of the year.

Despite the loss, the Loons outhit the Silver Hawks, 8-4. The Loons failed to capitalize on leadoff singles in five of their nine offensive half innings and stranded nine runners on base.

Jesmuel Valentin and Josmar Cordero led the way with two hits each. Webster Rivas singled in the seventh to extend his hitting streak to eight.

With the final results around the division, the Loons move a half game out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Division.

The Loons play the finale of this four-game series against the Silver Hawks Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm ET. Right-hander Scott Barlow (5-5, 4.50 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Loons against South Bend righty Markus Solboch (2-2, 3.73). The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 100.9-FM and ESPN1009.com.
