Fifteenth Overall Pick Joins Bees; All-Star Nuss to DL

(Clinton-IA) The Burlington Bees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that LHP and 2014 15th overall pick, Sean Newcomb has joined the Bees from the Arizona League Angels and RHP Garrett Nuss has been places on the 7-Day-DL.

Newcomb pitched in two games, both starts, with the Arizona League Angels, pitching in three innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three.

The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, pitched three seasons at the University of Hartford in Hartford Connecticut. Newcomb posted an 8-2 record with a 1.25 ERA in 14 games, all starts for the Hawks, in junior season. The Angels first round selection struck out 106 batters in 93.1 innings in 2014.

Midwest League All-Star Garrett Nuss has been placed on the 7-Day DL. Nuss has appeared in 20 games for the Bees this season, posting a 5-1 record with a 3.76 ERA. Nuss, the Angels seventh round pick in 2013, was one of five Burlington Bees' players to be selected for the 2014 Midwest League All-Star Game, pitching a scoreless inning in the mid-summer classic in West Michigan.

The Burlington Bees (59-57) and the Clinton LumberKings (51-64) continue their series on Saturday night at 6: 30 PM. Alex Blackford makes the start for the Bees against Jose Flores for the LumberKings.
