Burlington Bees News Release
(Clinton, IA) For the first time in August, the Burlington Bees win back-to-back games, defeating the Clinton LumberKings, 4-2, on Saturday night in Clinton.
Bo Way led off the game with a four-pitch walk, and moved to third on a one out single by Eric Aguilera. Mike Fish hit a soft groundball to short but beat out the relay on a double play attempt, scoring Way, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.
Aaron Barbosa led off the bottom of the first with a single and then stole second. After a Jack Reinheimer walk and a double steal, Barbosa crossed the plate on a wild pitch, making it a 1-1 game after the first.
The Bees regained the lead in the top of the third thanks to a single by Eric Aguilera, driving in Kody Eaves, giving the Bees a 2-1 lead.
With one out in the top of the fourth inning, Cambric Moye smacked a double off the wall in left and later came into score on an Erick Salcedo single, extending the Bees' lead to 3-1.
Tyler O'Neill made it one run game in the fourth inning with a towering blast to left, his tenth of the season, cutting the Bees' lead to 3-2.
The Bees added an insurance run in the fifth inning thanks to a throwing error on a comebacker to pitcher Jose Flores, allowing Eric Aguilera to score all the way from first base, upping the lead to 4-2.
Brian Loconsole and Ben Carlson shutout the LumberKings the rest of the way, giving the Bees their second straight win.
Reliever Brian Loconsole (4-4) picked up the win, working three and a third scoreless. Clinton starter Jose Flores (3-4) was charged with the loss, Ben Carlson (10) notched the save.
The Burlington Bees (60-57) and the Clinton LumberKings (51-65) wrap up their series on Sunday at 2:00 PM. Victor Alcantara makes the start for the Bees against Blake Holovach for the LumberKings.
