South Bend, IN â The South Bend Silver Hawks made another roster move for the 2004 campaign when the Arizona Diamondbacks placed catcher Miguel Montero on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to August 28th and promoted outfielder Chris Carter from the Yakima Bears of the Northwest League to South Bend.
Montero heads to the DL with a .261verage, 11 home runs and 58 RBI. Montero was also in the midst of a four game hitting streak. The Venezuelan born catcher is tied with Edgar Varela for second in team RBI with 58. Montero will sit nursing a bruised left thigh.
Chris Carter comes to the Silver Hawks as the Diamondbacks 17th round pick in the 2004 draft. Carter, who attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, comes to the Silver Hawks after hitting .335, with 13 home runs and 63 RBI.
The Silver Hawks will play their second game of their final homestand tonight when they face the Kane County Cougars. Tonight is Goodwill All Faiths Night presented by Goodwill and WFRN, 104.7 FM. Fans looking to attend the game can receive $2 dollars off any ticket purchased when they bring a donation for Goodwill or their church, mosque or synagogue bulletin. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
