Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

PEORIA, IL -- Peoria Chief starting pitcher Stuart Pomeranz struck out ten Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and gave up just three hits over seven shutout innings as the Chiefs beat the Rattlers 7-1 Tuesday night at O'Brien Field. John-Paul Davis homered while Anthony Monegan Brendan Ryan each drove in a pair of runs for Peoria.

Davis hit a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the third inning to put the Chiefs in front 1-0.

Matt Pagnozzi tripled to start the fifth and scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Ryan.

Peoria (70-63 overall, 32-32 second half) put five insurance runs on the board -- thanks to a pair of Rattler errors -- in the seventh. Monegan doubled in a pair of runs. Daric Barton drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to knock Rattler starting pitcher Jason Mackintosh out of the game. Chris Patrick singled in another run. Jarrett Hoffpauir drove in the final run of the inning with another sacrifice fly.

The Rattlers (57-76, 26-38) avoided the shutout with a run in the eighth against the Chief bullpen. Josh Womack tripled with one out and scored on a Nick Orlandos groundout.

The Rattlers and Chiefs meet again on Wednesday night at O'Brien Field. Ryan Feierabend (9-7, 3.76ERA) will start for the Rattlers. Mike Parisi (1-1, 3.94ERA) is the scheudled starter for the Chiefs. Game time is 6:00pm.
