South Bend, Indiana - Your 1st Half Midwest League Champion Silver Hawks will be lighting up the sky Thursday June 27th with a newly added fireworks celebration. Fireworks at the Cove follow every Friday night home game, but this special fireworks show is not one to miss, as the Silver Hawks and Michiana will celebrate the team's 1st half MWL championship. In addition to fireworks, Thursday is also Thirsty Thursday with $1 beer and soda all night long presented by Budweiser, Pepsi and 103.9 The Bear.
Saturday June 29th is also a very special day at the Cove, with a special appearance by former Cubs' great, Lee Smith. Lee Smith will be signing autographs, at no charge, pre-game from 6:15pm until 6:45pm and again from 7:15pm to 8:15pm near the Hawks Nest. Smith played 18 years in Major League Baseball for eight teams, pitching primarily for the Chicago Cubs, with whom he spent his first eight seasons.
Join your Silver Hawks June 26th through July 3rd for fun filled entertainment for all ages. Promotions taking place include Kids Eat Free Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, with $1.00 beer and soda, followed by celebration fireworks show postgame and Friday night fireworks presented by 1st Source Bank, Your Partners From the First for 150 Years, WNDU, and Sunny 101.5. Saturday, June 29th Jake the Famous Diamond Dog will be taking the field, and also on Sunday, for Canines at the Cove. Sunday stick around after the game for a special marshmallow drop from a helicopter and you could win up to $500.00, presented by the South Bend Medical Foundation. In addition to all the weekend fun, the first 500 fans on Saturday and Sunday will receive a Silver Hawks' baseball cap presented by PNC Bank.
