
Captains Sweep Bowling Green With 6-3 Win

Bowling Green, KY - Jeremy Lucas had a two-run RBI single in the ninth inning to extend the Captains lead over Bowling Green (3-3) to 6-2, Lake County (5-1) went on to win 6-3. Also in the ninth, Yhoxian Medina and Logan Vick hit back-to back doubles to get the inning and scoring started and then the inning was capped by the Lucas single.
Lake County scored three runs in the sixth inning. The bases were loaded and Leonardo Castillo worked a walk. Joe Sever scored. Jorge Martinez hit a ground rule double to right field and two more Captains runs came home and Lake County led 3-0.
In the bottom of the sixth, Bowling Green cut the lead to 3-2. Leonardo Reginatto singled home Ryan Dunn, who walked and stole second base, and the score was 3-1. Reginatto later scored on a single from Luke Maile. The lead was 3-2 Captains after six innings.
Lake County led 6-2 headed to the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs, Marty Gantt doubled and Joey Rickard knocked him home with an RBI single and the score was 6-3. That was the final. Lake County finished off a five win and one loss road trip, which included a sweep of the Hot Rods.
RHP Dylan Baker (4-5) started for Lake County and earned the win. Baker pitched five and two thirds innings and allowed just one hit. Baker walked three and yielded two runs. Felix Sterling earned a hold for pitching one and one third inning of scoreless baseball. Cody Penny earned his first save of the season and pitched two innings and allowed three hits. Penny allowed one earned run and struck out two.
Bowling Green started RHP Taylor Guerrieri (5-2). Guerrieri pitched five innings and allowed four hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Guerrieri did not get a decision. Eduar Quinonez (5-4) allowed two hits, three earned runs. He walked four, struck out two and took the loss. Quinonez took the loss. The rest of the bullpen pitched three and one third innings, and allowed five hits, three earned runs, one walk and had seven strikeouts.
