
Siddall and Fallon Assigned from AHL

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Joe Fallon has been assigned to the Gladiators by the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. In addition, forward Matt Siddall has been reassigned to the Gladiators by the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
Fallon returns to the Gladiators after appearing in one game with Rockford after being called up on February 12th. He posted 7 saves in 27 minutes of action in a relief effort with the IceHogs against Quad Cities on March 6th.
A rookie out of the University of Vermont, Fallon appeared in 13 games this season with the Fresno Falcons notching a 2.57 goals against average and a .911 save percentage before being reassigned to Gwinnett on December 26th. Fallon has skated in 10 games with the Gladiators notching a 5-4-1 record and a .910 save percentage with Gwinnett.
In four seasons at the University of Vermont, Fallon appeared in 132 career collegiate games notching a career best 1.86 goals against average during his junior season with the Catamounts.
Siddall returns to the Gladiators after appearing in 12 games with the Wolves after being called up on February 11th. He collected one assist while in the AHL and also notched 15 penalty mintues..
Siddall has appeared in 32 games this season with the Gladiators posting 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points. He has also notched 2 power play goals and has a -5 rating this season with Gwinnett. Siddall's three game winning goals continues to share the team lead on the Gladiators in that category this season.
Last year, the 24-year-old forward completed his fourth season with Northern Michigan University (CCHA), netting a career-high 18 goals, 36 points and 116 penalty minutes in 41 games during his senior campaign. Overall, the North Vancouver, British Columbia, native amassed 32 goals, 44 assists, 76 points and 357 penalty minutes in 147 outings during his four-year collegiate career.
The Gladiators continue the 2008-09 season on Friday, March 13th as they travel to Charleston to take on the South Carolina Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum at 7:05 p.m. Catch all the play by play action in Friday's game on WDUN, News Talk 550.
Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 21 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
