Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Just a day after recent Steelheads rookie addition Sean Garrity scored the game-winner in a ninth round shootout in Utah, Idaho's Head Coach Derek Laxdal announced he will add another rookie forward to the lineup. Mike Kneeland has signed an ECHL Amateur Tryout Contract.

Kneeland, a senior at Lake Forest, has notched 25 points, 11 goals and 14 assists, in 27 games for his Foresters hockey team this season. The 5-11, 185-pound Calgary, AB native scored a career single-game high 6 points twice during this 2008-09 season. He began his collegiate career at Lake Forest during the 2005-06 season, and in 95 total games-played he's scored 96 points (40g-56a) with 80 penalty minutes.

Prior to college, Kneeland played juniors with the Atlantic Junior Hockey League's Calgary Royals and was a teammate for two seasons with former Steelhead and recent Washington Capitals (NHL) call-up Jay Beagle.

Kneeland will likely play his first game with Idaho Friday night in Las Vegas. The Steelheads remain in Las Vegas for a second game Saturday, then return to Utah to complete the 15 games versus the Grizzlies. Game times in Las Vegas are 8:30 pm MT and puck drops on Sunday in Utah at 5:05 pm MT.
