Utah Grizzlies News Release

Loveland, Colorado - The Utah Grizzlies (13-6-0-1) defeated the Colorado Eagles 5-4 in a shootout Sunday evening at the Budweiser Events Center to extend their unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-0-1).

The Grizzlies, who continue to battle injuries, again competed shorthanded using just 13 skaters, against a fully loaded Colorado team as they wrapped up three games in three nights.

The two teams each had two short lived one-goal leads in the game. Utah took 1-0 first period lead on a Logan MacMillan goal at 16:30, before the Eagles tied the contest at one just 57-seconds later.

Colorado scored an early second period power-play goal, before Utah answered just 58 seconds later on Paul McIlveen's team leading eighth goal of the year as he redirected in a Mitch Fadden shot. The Eagles made it 3-2 late in the second with another power-play goal, but Utah countered just 1:40 later on their own power-play as Fadden scored his eighth goal of the year on a tic-tac-toe pass from Blair Yaworski and Matt Reber.

The game stayed 3-3 until the third period when Matt Reber finished off his three-point night (one goal-two assists) with his fifth goal of the year. Colorado tied it with just 1:19 left in regulation with a four-on-four goal. The Grizzlies killed a penalty late in regulation to force overtime.

In the shootout, Matt Reber scored for Utah to keep the game going in the fifth round and Logan MacMillan scored in round-seven to send the Grizzlies home with the win.

Shane Owen, making his second-straight start, improved to 3-0-0-1 with the win and stopped six of seven shots in the shootout.

Utah now heads to Alaska for games Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Face-off all three nights is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Wednesday, December 14 and Friday, December 16 for 7:05 p.m. face-offs.
