Defenseman Derrick LaPoint Loaned to Syracuse

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Derrick LaPoint ["mac KIN non"] has been loaned to the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. In a separate transaction, the Royals suspended defenseman Marvin Degon.

This marks the third time that LaPoint has been loaned to Syracuse. In two games with the Crunch, LaPoint, a first year pro from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has not registered any points or penalty minutes. In sixteen games with the Royals, LaPoint has registered two assists and four penalty minutes. Degon, who expressed his intention to leave the team, registered eleven points (4g-7a) and twelve penalty minutes in twenty-two games with Reading.

The Royals return to action on Thursday (December 8, 2011 @ 7:05 pm), when the team will face the Trenton Titans at the Sovereign Center. Select draft beer will be just $2.00 that night. The game night broadcast will start at 7:05 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading.
