Shorebirds Release Schedule for 2013 Season

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are excited to release the schedule for the 2013 baseball season, the 18th in franchise history. The Shorebirds will once again play 70 home games at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The 2013 schedule features 22 Friday or Saturday night home games spread throughout the season.

Full season tickets for the 2013 season are now available for purchase. Full season tickets guarantee a ticket to each home game during the 2013 season and a litany of other perks including discounted rates on theme dinners, guaranteed giveaways and more.

The Shorebirds will begin the 2013 at home on Thursday, April 4 against the Hagerstown Suns (Nationals). The first seven games of the season will be at home. Following a four game series against the Suns (April 4-7), the Shorebirds will play a three game series against Kannapolis (April 8-10). The April 4 home opening is the earliest home game at Perdue Stadium since the 2008 season when the Shorebirds played on April 3.

The Shorebirds will play 11 home games in the month of April. They also have a four game series against Greensboro (Marlins) scheduled for April 18-21.

The Shorebirds will begin the month of May at home with seven games against the Lexington Legends (Astros) and Charleston RiverDogs (Yankees) from May 1 through May 7. The Legends and RiverDogs have not played at Perdue Stadium since the 2010 season. In the middle of May, the Shorebirds have another seven game homestand, between May 16 and May 22 against Hickory (Rangers) and Lakewood (Phillies). The 'Birds will play 16 home games in May.

May ends and June begins with a four game series against Greensboro from May 30 through June 2. The first half of the 2013 season will conclude in Salisbury with a six game homestand against Lakewood (June 7-9) and West Virginia (June 10-12). The second half of the season begins at home with a seven game homestand against Asheville (Rockies) from June 20 through June 23 and Lakewood from June 24 through June 26.

For the first time since the 2010 season, the Shorebirds will play at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Thursday, July 4. The biggest fireworks show of the season will be scheduled for July 4. The Shorebirds will play the Hagerstown Suns from July 4 through July 7. In the middle of July, the Shorebirds have a seven game homestand against Kannapolis (White Sox) from July 17-19 and Savannah (Mets) from July 20-23.

The final full month of the season starts at home from August 1 through August 7 against Greensboro and West Virginia. The Shorebirds also have a homestand from August 13 through August 19 against Hagerstown and Lakewood. The final home games of the 2013 season will be played from August 27-29 against Kannapolis.

The Shorebirds will close out the season on the road with a four game series against Hickory from August 30 through September 2.

"With the end of each season comes the anticipation of the next," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters. "The 22 weekend home games and the opportunity to play at home on July 4 will gives us the flexibility to organize a jam packed promotional schedule this off season."

In late April, the Shorebirds will take a two city road trip to Savannah (April 23-25) and Greenville (April 26-29). The Shorebirds have not been to Greenville (Red Sox) since the 2010 season. The Shorebirds also have a road trip to Lexington (July 12-15), where they have not been since 2010.
