Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - All season the Charleston RiverDogs have enjoyed tremendous support from their loyal fans. The team now returns home to The Joe for the final time this year and will square off against the West Virginia Power in a three-game series that runs Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 28-30. During this final series the organization will conduct several unique promotions to send 2012 out in style, as well as to say "thank you" to its significant fan base.
Things immediately start in typical "Be Your Own Fan" fashion with a rare event at The Joe on Tuesday, Aug. 28. Bobblection 2012 Presidential Bobblehead Giveaway begins at 6 pm at the park. Fans who wish to participate may enter through the main gate at Riley Park with supporters of presumed Republican candidate Governor Mitt Romney entering on the right side, and those loyal to Democratic candidate President Barack Obama entering on the left. There will be 500 bobbleheads of each candidate available and the first to run out will be declared the winner of the Charleston polling place. Through similar events at other sites, Gov. Romney is currently ahead, 4-1, with five more to go (follow the action at www.bobblection.com).
For the second game of the series that will be Wednesday, Aug. 29, the RiverDogs will welcome back our neighboring cadets from The Citadel with another Citadel Night. All cadets gain free entry for the game, with upperclassmen entering from on the third-base side and knobs entering on the first-base side. The series and the home portion of the season concludes on Thursday, Aug. 30. Gildan will be conducting a back to school lottery where fans can win prizes to help prepare kids for the new school year on Gildan Back to School Night. The game also serves as Fan Appreciation Night. The evening will include giveaways throughout the game to show how grateful the team is for the support the fans have provided during the season, and the night concludes with another fireworks display.
Tuesday, August 28 - 7:05 pm: Bobblection 2012 Presidential Bobblehead Giveaway, Two-for-Tuesday, MillerCoors Aluminum Pint Nite, Craft Beer Tap Tuesday
Anyone purchasing tickets at the Riley Park Box Office can get two tickets for the price of one on Two-for-Tuesday. Bobblection should give everyone a reason to come to The Joe on Tuesday night as the fans will provide a true indication of who the next US President will be. On the ballpark concourse, Yuengling Light, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy and Blue Moon beer will be available for tasting on Craft Beer Tap Tuesday. If you visit the Ashley View Pub, you can get $3 aluminum pints on the final MillerCoors Aluminum Pint Nite of the year.
Wednesday, August 29 - 7:05 pm: Senior Wednesday, Rick Hendrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge of North Charleston and General Dynamics Land Systems-Force Protection Military Appreciation Night, The Citadel Night
While the RiverDogs salute the cadets from The Citadel, Rick Hendrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge of North Charleston and General Dynamics Land Systems-Force Protection will honor those that are currently serving in our armed forces with another Military Appreciation Night. This opportunity means all military personnel and dependents receive free tickets. Also, fans 65 or older will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, soda and chips as part of the final Senior Wednesday of the season.
Thursday, August 30 - 6:05 pm: Fan Appreciation Night, Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, Glidan Back to School Night, Season Finale Fireworks
The season finale is all about the great fans that the RiverDogs are fortunate enough to have. Giveaways will be ongoing throughout the game as part of the festivities. Gildan Back to School Night will be getting everyone ready for the school year . The Ashley View Pub will be rocking once again on another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, thanks to DJ Natty Heavy and $1 beers. At game's end, the Season Finale Fireworks Display will conclude another great year with a spectacular aerial showcase.
