CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees have announced that relief pitcher Nick Goody has been promoted from the Charleston RiverDogs to the High-A Tampa Yankees.

Simultaneously, right-handed pitcher Cesar Vargas has been promoted to Charleston from the Gulf Coast League and will take Goody's spot on the roster.

A native of Orlando, Fla., Goody joined the RiverDogs in June after a brief stint with the Staten Island Yankees. In 17 games with Charleston, he posted a 1-2 record with a 1.09 ERA and six saves. In 24.2 innings, he allowed 15 hits, walked seven and racked up 40 strikeouts. The 6-1, 195-pound right-hander was selected by the Yankees out of LSU in the sixth round of the most recent MLB Draft.

Goody is the seventh RiverDog to be promoted to Tampa this season and joins Caleb Cotham, Anderson Feliz, Mason Williams, Gary Sanchez, Tyler Austin and Kelvin De Leon.
