LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Five doubles to begin the 6th inning sparked a five-run inning and erased a 7-3 deficit as Lakewood came back to win Thursday night's ballgame 8-7.

Twice the BlueClaws trailed by four runs (4-0 entering the bottom of the 1st inning) but were resilient against Kannapolis' early offense. Willie Carmona started the comeback effort for the BlueClaws with a three-run homer in the 2nd inning. It was Carmona's first as a BlueClaw- third as a professional- and was part of a three-hit, four-RBI night for him.

Starting pitcher went just 3.0 innings and allowed five runs, but Lakewood got three innings out of both Blake Mascarello and Felix Santos who combined to surrender just two runs between them. Mascarello was on the mound when Lakewood mounted their comeback to earn his fourth win with the BlueClaws, and Santos pitched a scoreless final three frames for his second save.

The BlueClaws and Kannapolis continue their four-game series Friday night at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood will send Lino Martinez (6-5, 5.83) to the mound to battle Kannapolis' southpaw Bryan Blough (2-6, 4.50) as Martinez looks to tie Colin Kleven for the team lead with seven wins.

First pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
