PREVIEW: The Shorebirds finished their road trip with a split in West Virginia, losing the finale 4-1 on Tuesday morning. The offense stalled out for Delmarva, as they went without a baserun- ner between the fourth and ninth innings. Delmarva finished their road trip with a 4-3 winning record, and now they start an 8-game, 7-day homestand after an off day yesterday.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: James Dykstra will start the series opener for Kannapolis. Dykstra has compiled a 2-4 record this year with a 3.76 ERA in seven starts. The right-hander pitched against Delmarva last Friday in game one of a doubleheader. Dykstra took a no-decision, allowing two runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. Last season, Dykstra pitched for Great Falls in the Pioneer League with no record and 5.06 ERA in six relief appearances. The White Sox drafted Dykstra in the 6th round in 2013 out of Cal State San Marcos.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles lost a slugfest with the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-8. The two teams combined for 14 runs in the first two innings, as Chris Tillman was run early in his start. Nelson Cruz hit his team-high 14th home run. The O's are 23-21 in 3rd place in the AL East.

THE IRON IS HOT: 19 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

CHANCE SISCO | C

On Saturday night, Chance Sisco hit his first home run of the season, and just his second as a pro. The Shorebirds' catcher went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs in the 11-4 victory. Sisco is currently working on an nine-game hitting streak, his longest stretch of the year. Sisco, the Orioles' 2nd round pick in 2013, is now batting .270 on the season.

WHO'S HOT - JIMMY YACABONIS

Through his first 14 appearances, the Del- marva closer has yet to allow a run. Yacabo- nis is perfect 10-for-10 in save opportunities with a 1-0 record. In 15.0 innings, Yacabonis has struck out 20 batters.

WHO ELSE - DREW DOSCH

In Kannapolis, Dosch hit his first two home runs of the season. On Friday, Dosch's two- run blast gave the Shorebirds a 4-2 in extra innings. The third baseman leads the team with a .312 batting average on the year.
