STAT OF THE GAME: Shorebirds first baseman Mike Flacco has appeared in 16 straight games dating back to June 27. The last time he was not in the Shorebirds lineup was on June 26 against Lakewood. He was promoted to Frederick today.

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds aim for a game three win over the Tourists to take the upper hand in the series. Asheville scored six unanswered runs between the second and fourth innings to top the Shorebirds 8-2 in game two. The Shorebirds went hitless over the first 5.1 innings.

TOLLIVER TURNING IT AROUND: Ashur Tolliver suffered through a stretch in the first three weeks of June where he allowed nine runs in 4.2 innings (five outings). His ERA jumped to 5.17. Since then, Tolliver has surrendered just one run in his last 8.0 innings (six appearances). His ERA has dropped to 3.80.

3.4 RUNS PER GAME: The Shorebirds are averaging just 3.4 runs per game and seven hits per game through 12 games in July. For comparison sake, first place Hagerstown is averaging 5.3 runs per game and 9.7 hits per.

9 STRAIGHT SAVES: Shorebirds closer David Walters has saved nine consecutive save opportunities including last night. He leads the SAL with 21 saves and ranks eighth in all of Minor League Baseball. Walters has not allowed earned runs in ten of his last eleven appearances.

NINE-GAMER FOR JOE: Shorebirds catcher Joe Oliveira extended his hit streak to nine games with a single in the seventh inning last night. He is 10-for-31 (.322) during the streak.

SEVEN STRAIGHT: The Shorebirds have made at least one error in seven straight games. The last time they went without an error was on July 5 against Hickory.

BACK-TO-BACK WINS: Shorebirds starter Tim Berry has won consecutive starts for the first time this season. Berry beat Hickory on July 6 in five innings and beat Asheville on July 12 in five innings. He has allowed just eight hits and four runs in his last two starts combined.

ROTH JOINS ROTATION: Cameron Roth is scheduled to make his fourth start of the season on Saturday in the spot of Luis Noel, who will move to the bullpen. Roth is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts this season. He made 12 starts in Bluefield last season and posted a 2-4 mark with a 4.23 ERA.
