Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - The Hagerstown Suns are apparently the only suns shining in the CSRA this week. For the second straight day, the series between the Suns and the host Augusta GreenJackets has been affected by rain, with game one of a doubleheader suspended by rain on Thursday night with the GreenJackets leading the Suns 1-0 in the top of the third inning.

After a 30-minute delay at the outset of play, the GreenJackets took an early lead with a two-out RBI double in the third inning by Joel Weeks to put Augusta up 1-0. GreenJackets starter Mike Kickham retired the first six hitters of the game before giving up a leadoff single in the third. With two outs, and Mills Rogers at third after the single and a two-base throwing error on a pickoff attempt by Kickham, rains picked up during Sean Nicol's at-bat forcing the appearance of the tarp. After a one hour and 35 minute rain delay, the decision was made to suspend play until Friday.

The two teams will finish this game to seven innings, beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, before playing Friday's regularly scheduled contest to seven innings. The Thursday game in the series will be made up at a later date, but likely in Hagerstown when the GreenJackets travel to play the Suns next week.

Friday night will mark an appearance by Rally, the "King of Bling", as the first 1,000 GreenJackets fans will receive GreenJackets rally towels as they pass through the gates. Play will resume at 6:00 p.m. with radio pregame coverage beginning at 5:50, airing on WRDW-AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .

Single-game tickets are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS while further information can be found online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .
