GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday recalled center Riley Sheahan from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

A native of St. Catharines, Ontario, Sheahan ranks sixth on the Griffins and is tied for 17th among AHL rookies with 35 points (16-19-35) in 67 games. The first-year pro also places among team leaders with six power play goals (T4th), two shorthanded goals (2nd), four game-winning goals (2nd) and a 15.2% shooting percentage (T2nd). Drafted by the Red Wings with their first choice (21st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Sheahan made his NHL debut last season, logging 6:03 of ice time and three shots on goal on April 7 versus Chicago.

The Griffins will wrap up a season-high seven-game road trip tonight against Abbotsford (10 p.m. EDT) before opening up a four-game homestand versus Chicago on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
