
Patrick Maroon Named Norfolk Admirals Player of the Year

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals and Beach Engraving are proud to announce that left wing Patrick Maroon has been named the winner of the 2012-13 Norfolk Admirals Player of the Year award, as voted upon by the players and coaching staff.
Maroon, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound forward, leads the Admirals with 22 goals, 12 power play goals, five game-winning goals and 128 penalty minutes in 57 games this season. He is also tied for the team lead with 44 points and ranks second on the team with 22 assists. The fifth-year pro has also posted two goals and ten penalty minutes in 11 games with the NHL's Anaheim Ducks. He scored his first career NHL goal on Feb. 16th at Nashville.
In 346 career AHL games between Norfolk, Syracuse, Adirondack and Philadelphia, Maroon has posted 114 goals and 272 points with 533 penalty minutes. He also has two goals in 13 career NHL games with the Ducks.
Maroon was acquired by Anaheim from Philadelphia with David Laliberte in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson on Nov. 21, 2010. He signed a two-year contract extension with the Ducks on Mar. 21st.
The Admirals and Beach Engraving honored Maroon's selection as Player of the Year prior to tonight's game against the Binghamton Senators. Maroon's name will be added to the Norfolk Admirals Player of the Year Trophy.
The awarding of the Player of the Year trophy started in the 2004-05 season with the donation of the trophy by Beach Engraving. Prior winners of the award include Rene Bourque (2004-05), Mark Cullen (2005-06), Corey Crawford and Martin St. Pierre (2006-07), Norm Milley (2007-08), Brandon Bochenski (2008-09), Ryan Craig (2009-10), Marc-Antoine Pouliot (2010-11) and Mark Barberio (2011-12). The trophy is currently on display in the Admirals Administrative Offices at Norfolk Scope and will be on display on the upper concourse during all Admirals games.
