Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators knocked off the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-1 to capture Sunday's originally scheduled game in a seven-inning contest. Sterling Sharp threw a complete game and Drew Ward added three RBI as the Senators won their third straight.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Senators took the lead in the second when Drew Ward demolished a two-run home run to right, his 13th of the season.
Ward added another run to the lead in the fourth by singling home Austin Davidson.
With the Senators leading 3-1 in the fifth, the club doubled their score. Following a double by Zach Collier and single by Carter Kieboom, Daniel Johnson hit into a 4-6-3 double play which scored a run. The next batter, Jake Noll, walked, which set the table for Austin Davidson who powered a long home run to right, his 10th of the season, giving the Senators a 6-1 advantage.
Senators starting pitcher Sterling Sharp (6-3) tossed his second career complete game in the win. The right-hander went seven innings and limited the Squirrels to one run on six hits and a walk.
Richmond starter Logan Webb (1-2) surrendered six runs, five earned, on seven hits across four and two-thirds frames.
The Senators play their final game of the 2018 season Monday afternoon against Richmond. Logan Darnell toes the rubber in the season finale for the Senators, while Richmond counters with starter Conner Menez. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at The Diamond. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Harrisburg 96.5 & 95.3 FM and 1400 AM or at www.cbssportsharrisburg.com beginning at 12:55 p.m.
