Four-Run Seventh for Portland, 7-4 Win at Binghamton

Binghamton, NY - The Portland Sea Dogs (62-76) rallied in the seventh, scoring four times to beat the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (64-75), 7-4 on Sunday night at NYSEG Stadium.

Trey Ball made his professional debut as a hitter, going 1-for-4 as the DH from the ninth spot in the lineup. During Portland's four-run seventh, Ball's RBI double snapped a 4-4 tie, proving to be the game-winning hit.

Trailing 4-3, Jhon Nunez tied the game with an RBI triple off losing pitcher Franklyn Kilome (4-9). After Ball's hit, Chris Madera reached on an error by RF Ian Storm. Chad De La Guerra put the game away with a two-run single.

Teddy Stankiewicz (8-13) earned the win for the Sea Dogs, working seven innings on four runs, six hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Stankiewicz snapped a four-game losing streak and will finish the season as the Eastern League leader in innings pitched at 148.1.

Algenis Martinez made his Double-A debut for Portland, working two scoreless innings to notch the save.

Esteban Quiroz put the Sea Dogs on the board, launching a two-run homer in the first inning off Kilome. Binghamton responded in their half of the first on a two-out homer by Joey Terdoslavich.

In the fifth inning, the Ponies tied the game on a run-scoring single by Oliver Pascual, but Portland grabbed a 3-2 lead when a wild pitch scored Quiroz but once again, the Ponies responded, taking a 4-3 lead on an RBI double by Terdoslavich and a run-scoring single from Tyler Moore.

The Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate) conclude the 2018 season with a 1:05 PM start on Monday at NYSEG Stadium. LHP Matt Kent (11-8, 3.50) is on the mound for Portland.
