March 11, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Worcester Sharks News Release

WORCESTER, MA - Jack Combs scored his 13th goal of the season, the only strike on 41 shots on goal on Adirondack netminder Michael Leighton as the Sharks lost to the Phantom 4-1 at the DCU Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Sharks dropped below .500 on home ice with the loss (13-4-0-2) and Harri Sateri made 32 saves in net in a game that saw only three minor penalties. Worcester's five game home stand concludes on Friday, March 16 at 7:30pm on Heroes Night to benefit the Jon Davies Children's Fund when the Sharks host the Providence Bruins.

The Sharks carried most of the play in a fast moving opening frame but it was the Phantoms that grabbed the only score. Shane Harper (13th) scored on a breakaway chance past Harri Sateri at 14:22 as Adirondack took a 1-0 lead. Worcester outshot the Phantoms 11-10 through 20 minutes.

Worcester fired 21 shots in the second period on goaltender Michael Leighton and came up empty. Adirondack went ahead 2-0 with a rebound score by Matthew Ford (20th) at 57 seconds in the middle frame and Michael Leighton stopped Brandon Mashinter on a breakaway before the buzzer as the Sharks trailed by two through 40 minutes.

Nathan Moon sent a perfect pass from behind the Phantoms net onto the tape of Jack Combs (13th) who then ripped it past the glove of Michael Leighton to give Worcester some life at 10:24 of the third period. Just over two minutes later, Mike Testwuide (10th) deflected a Rob Bordson shot from the point past Sateri at 12:39 as the Phantoms regained their two goal advantage. Tye McGinn (10th) buried an empty netter at 19:15 to seal the deal for Adirondack in the 4-1 Sharks loss.

Worcester's record falls to 26-23-4-7, with 63pts and currently one point behind the Albany Devils for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with one game in hand.
