March 11, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Monsters News Release

After four shootouts and two overtimes over the last six games, it finally took only 60 minutes to decide a Monsters game. Brad Malone earned the game-winning goal for the Monsters for the second straight night as Lake Erie (32-25-2-4) held off the San Antonio Rampage (33-24-3-1) for a 3-2 victory on the road. The Monsters earned five of six possible points on their weekend three-in-three road trip, and have now earned 11 of 12 possible points over their last six games since March 2nd. With the win, the Monsters also sweep the four-game season series against the Rampage, taking all four meetings in regulation.

Patrick Rissmiller's 10th goal of the season opened the scoring at 8:43 of the first period when he tipped home a Mike Brennan point shot and beat San Antonio goalie Dov Grumet-Morris. Dallas Jackson assisted on the goal as well for his first point as a Monster. The first period ended with Lake Erie leading 1-0.

Greg Mauldin extended the Monsters lead to 2-0 when he scored on a shorthanded breakaway following a Rampage turnover at 2:55 of the second period. Mauldin went top-shelf on Grumet-Morris for his 13th goal of the season.

Evan Barlow deflected a puck by Monsters goalie Cedrick Desjardins to pull San Antonio to within a goal at 5:12 of the second period, but the Monsters would regain a two-goal lead before the period expired.

After Mauldin one-timed a puck wide of the San Antonio net, Peter MacArthur centered a puck for Malone in the slot, and Malone fired the puck by Grumet-Morris for his second goal in as many games at 18:56 of the second period. The goal was Malone's ninth of the season, and gave the Monsters a 3-1 lead.

Colby Robak scored on a wrist shot from the right circle in the third for San Antonio, but the Monsters held on for the 3-2 win.

Desjardins stopped 23 of 25 shots to improve to 12-6-2. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 22 of 25 shots and is now 19-10-1.

The Monsters return to action when they host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:30 PM at Quicken Loans Arena.
