Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - Saturday night's matchup between Worcester and Norfolk was a reversal of the evening prior, as this time it was the Sharks' Aaron Dell who earned the shutout at Scope Arena, 4-0.

Less than four minutes into the game, Eriah Hayes took the puck into the Admirals' zone himself. Fending off Norfolk skaters, Hayes brought it behind the goal line and tried to stuff it short side behind Jason LaBarbera. LaBarbera stifled the attempt, but captain John McCarthy made good on the rebound after his second effort. Ryan Carpenter also assisted on the tally at 3:40 to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead.

Worcester extended its lead past the halfway point of the opening frame. While on the power play, Evan Trupp skated into the Admirals' end and passed the puck to Micheal Haley on the right side. Haley redirected Trupp's pass into the net from the doorstep, sending the Sharks into a 2-0 lead.

Late in the second period, the Sharks struck once more. After a little give-and-go, Dylan DeMelo blasted a shot on net from the blue line, which LaBarbera fought off. However, the Norfolk netminder gave up a big rebound which landed straight on center Travis Oleksuk's stick. Oleksuk buried the puck in the twine, and the Sharks headed into the second intermission up, 3-0.

Worcester tacked on another in the third. Hayes took control below the Admirals' blue line and threw a shot on net. Although LaBarbera saved Hayes' attempt, Carpenter pounced on the rebound and put it top corner at 10:22 to give the Sharks a 4-0 advantage.

Dell saved all 38 of the Admirals' shots, and LaBarbera turned aside 31 of 35. Worcester went 2-for-4 on the man-advantage, while Norfolk finished 0-for-4.

The Admirals play host to the Syracuse Crunch twice next weekend, beginning Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., before heading out on a four-game road trip.

Three Stars:

1) WOR #29 Aaron Dell (38 saves)

2) WOR #22 Ryan Carpenter (1 G, 1 A)

3) NOR #2 Mat Clark
