Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators snapped a five-game losing streak in front of a record-setting crowd at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena after they dropped the visiting Lehigh Valley Phantoms 4-1. Peter Mannino made 29 saves in net for the B-Sens earning his second victory of the season.

Jason Akeson gave the Phantoms the early lead when he notched his 11th goal of the year 5:08 into the opening period. Binghamton responded less than 45 seconds later when Shane Prince beat Lehigh Valley's starting goaltender Rob Zepp for his 16th of the season. The teams head to the first intermission tied 1-1.

Following a back-and-forth second period, Prince intercepted a pass in the neutral zone with less than two minutes to play and carried the puck past several Phantoms' skaters before finding Cole Schneider who beat Zepp for his 14th tally of the season giving Binghamton the 2-1 advantage heading into the third.

Mannino and the B-Sens defense saved the best hockey for the final frame stifling all seven of the Phantoms scoring chances while adding two empty net tallies; the first coming from Carter Camper followed by a shorthanded empty-netter from Buddy Robinson.

Anthony Stolarz came in for relief of an injured Zepp early in the third period stopping all five shots faced for the Phantoms.

Binghamton finishes off its busy weekend with a 3:00p.m. faceoff tomorrow afternoon against the Utica Comets at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
