San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - A third-period scoring surge lifted the San Antonio Rampage (27-15-4-0) to a 5-3 win over the Oklahoma City Barons (29-11-3-3) in front of 13,125 on Pink in the Rink Night, presented by the Cancer Therapy and Research Center, on Saturday night at the AT&T Center.

Five different players recorded multi-point games. Brett Olson tallied a goal and two assists while Vincent Trocheck, Bobby Butler and Shane O'Brien added a goal and an assist each.

Brad Hunt got the Barons on the board in the waning seconds of the first period to open up the scoring. Hunt's first shot was stopped by Dan Ellis, but he backhanded his own rebound in to make it 1-0 at 19:13.

Oklahoma City scored a shorthanded goal early in the second frame to extend their lead to two goals. The puck bounced to Curtis Hamilton off the faceoff, and he beat Ellis from the right circle to make it 2-0.

San Antonio came within one with a shorthanded goal of their own just past the midway point of the stanza. Vincent Trocheck punched in Rocco Grimaldi's cross-crease pass for the Rampage's sixth shorthanded goal of the season, which ranks in a tie for fifth in the American Hockey League.

The Silver and Black evened the score at two with Olson's seventh goal of the season. Olson collected a pass from Butler on the break and wristed a shot to the top left corner past Richard Bachman. Oklahoma City took a 3-2 lead into the second intermission following a Ryan Hamilton goal with less than two minutes left in the period.

The floodgates opened for the Rampage in the third period, as John McFarland, O'Brien and Butler all scored within a 1:32 time span to give the Silver and Black a 5-3 lead, which stood as the final score.

Dan Ellis made 29 saves on 32 shots, while Bachman finished with 25 saves on 30 shots.

The Rampage's three goals over a 1:32 span in the third period set a franchise record for the fastest three goals scored in a period.

Butler's third-period goal was the 100th of his professional career. With a goal and an assist on the night, he is now tied for sixth in the league in points (41) and tied for fourth in goals (20).

Saturday's game was the fifth annual Pink in the Rink Night, presented by CTRC, and the culmination of the Silver and Black's Pink Week, in which the Rampage family honored those who have passed away from and celebrated stories of survival. San Antonio is now 3-1-1 in Pink in the Rink games.
