Oklahoma City Barons News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage scored three third period goals in the span of 92 seconds to erase a one-goal deficit and defeat the Oklahoma City Barons 5-3 Saturday night at AT&T Center.
Brett Olson led the way for the Rampage with a goal and two assists, while Bobby Butler, Vincent Trocheck and Shane O'Brien each had a goal and an assist.
With the Barons leading 3-2 midway through the third period, John McFarland knotted the game at three when he took a pass from Trocheck in the high Oklahoma City slot and backhanded the puck past Barons goalie Richard Bachman at the 8:19 mark.
At 9:21 of the third, O'Brien netted his goal when Olson dropped a pass to the right circle dot and O'Brien flipped a wrister past the stick side of Bachman.
Thirty seconds later, Butler took a rebounding puck in the Barons slot and deposited it into the OKC net to give San Antonio a 5-3 lead it wouldn't relinquish.
Oklahoma City's Brad Hunt opened the game's scoring in the final minute of the first period, giving the Barons a 1-0 lead at 19:13 when he took a pass from Bogdan Yakimov on the right side of the Rampage net and flipped a shot over the glove of San Antonio net minder Dan Ellis.
The Barons extended their lead to 2-0 at the 4:42 mark of the second period, despite being on the penalty kill stemming from a tripping call to Travis Ewanyk at 3:38 of the frame. Matt Ford's faceoff win sent the puck directly to Curtis Hamilton, who rifled a shot past Ellis for Oklahoma City's first shorthanded goal of the 2014-15 campaign.
At the 10:30 mark of the second period, San Antonio answered, scoring a shorthanded goal of their own when Trocheck redirected a Rocco Grimaldi shot from the point past Bachman to cut the Barons' lead to 2-1.
Olson tied the game at two at 13:54 of the second when he skated through the Barons slot and put a centering pass from Butler past Bachman.
Ryan Hamilton gave the Barons a 3-2 lead at 18:01 of the second when he took a pass from Hunt in the right circle and flicked a wrister past Ellis.
The loss was Bachman's first in 8 decisions, and the five goals surrendered were the most he's given up all season.
The Barons next travel to Cedar Park, TX, where they will face the Texas Stars on Sunday, Feb. 8, in a 5 p.m. start at Cedar Park Center.
