
Sharks And K-Wings Swap Players

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce San Jose has returned goaltender Ryan Nie and reassign defenseman Will Colbert to Kalamazoo. The Sharks have also called-up goaltender Tyson Sexsmith and defenseman Mitch Versteeg to the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks.
Returning to the K-Wings after his second call-up to the AHL, Nie is 7-2-1-0 in 10 appearances between the pipes for Kalamazoo.
The native of Nanticoke, Ontario ranks second in the ECHL with a 0.918 save percentage and sixth in the league with a 2.66 GAA.
Also returning to Kalamazoo is Colbert. Called-up from Worcester on November 5th, Colbert played in 12 games for the Sharks earning 1 assist and plus/minus rating of +3.
Starting the season in Kalamazoo, Colbert saw action in six games and recorded three points (2 goals, 1 assist) and was +2.
Heading to Worcester will be Sexsmith and Versteeg. Reassigned to Kalamazoo two weeks ago, Sexsmith was 2-0-0-0 with a goals-against average of 2.50 and a save percentage of 0.932.
A solid stay-at-home defenseman, Versteeg is +4 and has earned eight points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 25 games this season. Versteeg has also amassed 40 minutes in penalties.
The call-ups of Sexsmith and Versteeg mark the 12th and 13th times this season a K-Wings player has been sent to the AHL.
The K-Wings return to the ice this Saturday, December 26th at Wings Stadium with a 7:30 p.m. encounter versus the Wheeling Nailers.
Kalamazoo will also be home this Sunday, December 27th with a 4 p.m. face-off versus the Cincinnati Cyclones. Sunday's encounter will be a Family Four Pack afternoon, which features four tickets, four hot dogs and four Pepsi for only $44. There will also be a post-game skate with the players.
