Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that their fans donated 552 boxes of cartoon band-aids to "Brent's Band-Aids" at their game against Toledo this past Friday.

"Brent's Band-Aids" is a charity started by seven-year-old Richland native Brent Swaltek. When he was unable to get a cartoon band-aid from Children's Hospital to cover a wound following one of his chemotherapy treatments, Brent started his charity. The goal of "Brent's Band-Aids" is to collect cartoon band-aids and donate them to Children's Hospital to help brighten up the stays of other children. Since starting his charity this summer, Brent has donated over 1,000 boxes of cartoon band-aids.

The Chiefs held a night to benefit Brent's charity at their home game against the Toledo Walleye this past Friday and collected 552 band-aids to help the cause. The Chiefs also honored Brent by having him drop the ceremonial faceoff with his favorite player, goalie Kris Mayotte, taking the draw. After the faceoff, Mayotte surprised Brent by giving him the game-worn number 31 jersey from the 2009 ECHL All-Star Game in Reading that Mayotte started for the American Conference.

Chiefs fans who missed a chance to donate band-aids last Friday are not out of luck. For the rest of this season, the Chiefs will serve as a "Brent's Band-Aids" donation location. Fans can bring their boxes of cartoon band-aids to the merchandise stand located just inside the main entrance to the concourse.

The Chiefs would like to sincerely thank all of the fans who donated band-aids last Friday and helped make the night a success.

Mark your calendars! The Chiefs are back on home ice on Saturday, December 26 against the Trenton Devils. The Chiefs will be hosting a youth hockey appreciation night where Johnstown Jets and Johnstown Warriors players can get into the game for free by wearing their jerseys to the game. As a special bonus, hockey parents can get in for just $8 with their kids! Good seats still remain and can be purchased in advance by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
