Everblades Battle Back To Take Two Of Three At Home From Wheeling

Florida rebounded from a tough week at home last week to divisional rival Charlotte to post two victories over the Wheeling Nailers in three tries at Germain Arena. The Everblades broke a two-game slide on Wednesday night with a 5-2 victory over the Nailers. Wheeling got revenge on Friday night holding off the 'Blades 5-3. The rubber match went to the Everblades in a dominating performance as they beat Wheeling 5-1 on Saturday. The Everblades begin a season-high 11-game road trip this Saturday in Charlotte. The first five games of the trip will be on the road against South division opponents. The last six games on the road will be against American Conference foes in the East division. Florida then travels to Gwinnett on Sunday for a matinee contest with the Gladiators.

Wednesday, December 16 vs Wheeling Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: Florida claimed their second straight victory over Wheeling and first at Germain Arena 5-2 on Wednesday night. The 'Blades featured four multiple-point scorers in the contest including; Ross Carlson (2g), Colin Nicholson (1g, 1a), and Ryan Lang and Steve McJannet each with two assists. Goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped 30 of 32 shots in the victory.

Friday, December 18 vs Wheeling Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: Wheeling recorded their first victory in history over Florida on Friday night, 5-3. Thomas Beauregard led the Nailers with two goals (17, 18) and an assist. Rookie forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel chipped in three helpers and was +3 in the contest. Newest Florida acquisition Shea Guthrie led the way for the 'Blades with a three-point effort (1g, 2a).

Saturday, December 19 vs Wheeling Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The Florida Everblades struck for three goals in the first period then never looked back beating Wheeling 5-1. Steve McJannet (1g, 1a) scored just 11-seconds into the game, while teammate Ryan Lang (1g, 1a) also was a multiple-point scorer in the victory. Mathieu Roy (2g) and Colin Nicholson (3a) registered multiple-point games for Florida. Barry Brust stopped 42 of 43 shots to post his fourth victory of the season.

THIS WEEK

Saturday, December 26 @ Charlotte Time Warner Cable Arena 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: Florida and Charlotte meet for the eighth time this season. The Checkers have won the last two games in the season series. Florida has posted a 3-3-1 record against Charlotte and a 1-0-1 record on the road in Charlotte. The Everblades lost to Charlotte 4-3 in an 11-player shootout on November 4. The Blades rebounded to win 7-0 the next night as Jacob Micflikier scored a hat trick and added three assists in the win.

Sunday, December 26 @ Gwinnett The Arena at Gwinnett Center 4:05PM

GAME NOTES: Florida and Gwinnett met just once this season in Gwinnett. The Gladiators stopped the Everblades 4-1 powered by Scott Mifsud's goal and an assist. Captain Brad Schell chipped in three assists for the Gladiators while goaltender Danny Taylor stopped 44 Everblades shots.

ECHL GOALTENDER & PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

#35 Barry Brust 1GP RECORD: 1-0-0 GAA: 1.00 SPCT:.977% TEAM RECORD: 2-1-0

Barry Brust helped the Everblades secure a winning week with his 42-save performance on Saturday night. Brust recorded his fourth victory in an Everblades sweater while securing the 14th victory for the club.

#20 Ryan Lang 3GP 2G, 4A 6PTS (+8) TEAM RECORD: 2-1-0

Ryan Lang scored in every game this week for Florida. The veteran forward scored two goals and four assists in three games against the Wheeling Nailers this week. Lang also finished an impressive +8 during the week.
