San Francisco Bulls News Release
SAN FRANCISCO - Thanks to a Dale Mitchell power play goal in overtime, the San Francisco Bulls (14-19-4-1) skated away with a 5-4 win over the Colorado Eagles (19-10-4-2), Wednesday night at the Cow Palace. Riley Brace forced overtime with his first goal in a Bulls uniform in the third period. Tyler Beskorowany earned the win, stopping 27 shots.
The Bulls grabbed the early lead, converting on the game's first power play opportunity. Newcomer Ryan Garlock scored the tally. Dylan King and Kalvin Sagert scored on the goal at 7:03. Luke Judson made it a 2-0 contest after backhanding a rebound past Adam Brown. The score came with 9:13 left in the first, and was assisted by Chris Crane and Scott Langdon. Through 20 minutes of play, San Francisco led, 2-0.
In the second period, the Eagles responded with three straight goals. Alex Hudson scored on the power play at 6:22. Brock Nixon and Riley Nelson registered assists. With 7:30 remaining in the period, Colorado tied up the game at 2-2. Mark Nemec notched the tally, from Kevin Ulanski and Kyle Ostrow. Ulanski got on the score sheet again, scoring the Eagles' third goal of the frame. The tally came with 3:37 left. In the waning seconds, the Bulls tied the game back up. Jordan Morrison beat Brown on a snipe from the left circle. The score came with 15.8 seconds remaining with assists to Brett Findlay and Mitchell. At the end of the second period, the game stood at a 3-3 stalemate.
Ostrow opened up the third by giving Colorado back the lead. After a miscue in front of the San Francisco net, he pocketed the goal at 5:37 to make it a 4-3 game. With 9:58 left in the period, the Bulls came back again. Brace deked past a defender to create a two-on-one chance. He kept the puck and found the back of the net. After a scoreless final nine minutes, the game went into overtime.
In extra time, Findlay drew a penalty to give San Francisco two minutes of four-on-three play. They didn't waste the opportunity. Dean Ouellet faked a shot from the point, passed to an open Mitchell, who slapped a one-timer home. The score came with 1:44 left in overtime.
The Bulls have a day off tomorrow before heading to Bakersfield on Friday. The contest with the Condors begins at 7:00 pm.
