
Leading Scorer Peter Boyd and Forward Scott Campbell Return from AHL; Stingrays Add Goaltender Kevin

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that forward Peter Boyd returned to the team from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL), the team received forward Scott Campbell from the Providence Bruins (AHL) and signed goaltender Kevin McFarland.
Boyd, 25, skated in three games with the Sound Tigers adding one assist and four penalty minutes. The Cambridge-Narrows, New Brunswick, native leads the Stingrays with 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 33 games. After being acquired at the ECHL trade deadline from the Bakersfield Condors last season, Boyd recorded four goals and six assists for 10 points in 10 games with the Stingrays and pitched in a goal in four Kelly Cup Playoff contests. In 50 games with the Condors, Boyd registered 29 points (18 goals, 11 assists).
After being called up to the Bruins on December 10, Campbell, 27, dressed in 13 games netting one goal. With the Stingrays, the Navan, Ontario, product buried eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in 21 games this season and is tied for the longest goal scoring streak in the ECHL, lighting the lamp seven times in six games from October 20 to November 2. Last season, Campbell split time between the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL and Sound Tigers. In Las Vegas, Campbell acquired 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 24 contests and added 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 46 AHL games.
McFarland, 26, played in one game with the St. Charles Chill of the Central Hockey League giving up one goal on eight shots in 15 minutes of action, standing in relief of netminder Robert Moss in a 6-1 loss against the Missouri Mavericks. A rookie this season, the St. Louis, Missouri, native attended SUNY-Potsdam for three seasons dressing in 28 total contests and earned a 4-9-2 record, 3.72 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 17 appearances his senior year.
The Stingrays visit the Cincinnati Cyclones tomorrow, Friday, January 17 at 7:35 p.m. at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio and head over to Evansville, Indiana to take on the Evansville IceMen on Saturday, January 18 at Ford Center 8:15 p.m. The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum for Family Four Pack Friday on Friday, January 24 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. Grab four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas and large popcorn for $55 at the Coliseum Box Office.
