Harrisburg Senators News Release

Chris Marrero homered, recorded two hits, and drove in two runs, as the Harrisburg Senators defeated the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday evening at Metro Bank Park, by a final score of 6-3.  With the win, the Senators (68-60) took a half-game lead on the Bowie Baysox (68-61) for the second and final playoff spot in the Eastern League's Western Division.  Portland fell to 61-67 with the loss.

Tom Milone picked up the win for the Senators, striking out seven and allowing just three runs in six and a third innings to improve to 11-5.  Kyle Weiland (5-8) gave up four runs in five innings, and took the loss for Portland, while Cole Kimball earned his eighth save for the Sens.  Kimball loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but did not allow a run.  The Senators had nine hits in the ballgame, including two each from Jesus Valdez, Tim Pahuta, and Marrero.  Pahuta and Marrero each hit solo homers in the game.

The Sens scored single runs in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings, and then capped off the scoring with two in the bottom of the seventh.  Pahuta scored the run in the second inning, as he worked a one-out walk, advanced to third on a Solano double, and came home on an Edgardo Baez groundout.  Marrero drove in Valdez with a single in the third, and then the two home runs came in the fourth and fifth innings.  In the seventh, Baez led off with a triple, then came home on a two-out double by Valdez.  Valdez later scored on an RBI single by Michael Burgess.  Burgess, Solano, and Baez each had one hit in the contest.

The series is now tied at a game apiece between Portland and the Senators, with game three set for Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM.  Right-hander Brad Peacock (1-1, 4.63) starts on the mound for the Sens in that one, against RHP Jeremy Kehrt (2-10, 4.80) of Portland.  Fans can tune in to 1460 AM The Ticket, or log on to www.senatorsbaseball.com, to hear all the action.  Coverage begins with the pregame show at 6:45 PM.
