CURVE, Pa - The Altoona Curve is pleased to announce their complete 142-game regular season schedule for the 2011 season, which will mark the organization's 13th year of professional baseball as the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Curve will open their 2011 calendar on the road in Erie against the SeaWolves at 6:35 p.m. and conclude against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at home on September 5 at 12:00 p.m. The home opener at Blair County Ballpark is set for Thursday, April 14 against Richmond at 6:30 p.m.

Below are additional pertinent details and other highlights of the Altoona Curve's 2011 schedule:

* Fans can enjoy the Fourth of July at Blair County Ballpark when the team hosts division-rival Akron at 7:00 p.m.

* The 2011 schedule will see the Altoona Curve play just nine home games in April,16 in May, 15 in June, 12 in July, 15 in August and four in September.

* In April and May, standard Monday-Friday home game times are 6:30 p.m. with the exception of four School Kids' day games (April 20 and May 5, 25, and 26). Saturday games in the first two months of the season will start at 5:30 p.m., while Sunday contests will begin at 2:00 p.m.

* June, July, August, and September will feature 7:00 p.m. start times from Monday-Saturday with the exception of three 12:00 p.m. contests (July 12, August 18, and September 5). As has become a Curve summertime tradition, Sunday games beginning in June will start at 6:00 p.m. with fireworks to follow each.

* The Eastern League All-Star break will be July 13 and 14 with the All-Star Game being held on Wednesday, July 14 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire, home of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

* The Eastern League playoffs are slated to begin on Wednesday, September 7.

* Altoona's 2011 schedule will also feature more balance with an increase of games against teams in the Eastern League's Eastern Division. Below is a breakdown of games by opponent for Altoona:

Akron Aeros (AA - Cleveland Indians): 20 games

Erie SeaWolves (AA - Detroit Tigers): 18 games

Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA - San Francisco Giants): 17 games

Harrisburg Senators (AA - Washington Nationals): 16 games

Reading Phillies (AA - Philadelphia Phillies): 15 games

Bowie Baysox (AA - Baltimore Orioles): 12 games

Binghamton Mets (AA - New York Mets): 11 games

New Britain Rock Cats (AA - Minnesota Twins): 10 games

Trenton Thunder (AA - New York Yankees): 10 games

Portland Sea Dogs (AA - Boston Red Sox) 7 games

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (AA - Toronto Blue Jays) 6 games

"We've got a great schedule for 2011," said Curve General Manager Rob Egan. "With fewer games in April and plenty of opportunities to see the team in June, July, and August, we couldn't be more pleased. We also look forward to hosting a game on July 4 again. That was something our fans really missed this season."
