Harrisburg Senators News Release
Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators staged a late rally Tuesday at Commerce Bank Park, but came up just short against the Bowie Baysox. The Senators lost their fifth straight game, an 8-7 tally.
The big inning was again the Senators' Achilles heel. Bowie plated four runs in the top of the 3rd inning, including back-to-back home runs to take command. A pair of Baysox hit two home runs each.
The Baysox jumped in front in the top of the 1st. Lou Montanez drew a two-out walk and Nolan Reimold followed with an RBI double to make it 1-0 Bowie.
In the 3rd, Montanez and Reimold drilled back-to-back homers for the second night in a row to give Bowie a 3-0 lead. Later in the inning, Blake Davis dumped a two-out, bases-loaded, two-run single to right to make it 5-0.
Bowie tacked on an insurance run in the 4th on a two-out RBI single by Jeff Nettles and another with two out in the 6th when Reimold blasted another solo homer to blow it open to 7-0.
The Senators rallied with a run in the bottom of the 6th when Bill Rhinehart lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, plating Seth Bynum. The kept it going in the bottom of the 7th as Leonard Davis cracked his first Double-A home run to left-center to cut it to 7-2. With the bases loaded and two out, William Bergolla was hit by a pitch and Rhinehart followed with a walk to make it a 7-4 game. A strikeout by reliever Kam Mickolio ended the inning with the bases loaded.
Montanez slammed another home run with two out in the 8th inning to give Bowie an 8-4 lead.
The Senators continued to whittle away at the deficit in the bottom of the 8th. Devin Ivany was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it an 8-5 game. RHP Gerardo Casadiego came on and walked Mike Daniel to drive in a run and Bergolla followed with an RBI single to cut it to 8-7. A crucial double-play groundout ended the inning with the Senators down by a run.
LHP Mike Hinckley didn't make it out of the fourth inning and took the loss to fall to 4-3. Bowie RHP Brad Bergesen picked up the win to move to 6-3. RHP Julio Manon worked a scoreless 9th inning to notch his 19th save.
The Senators fell to 44-38. The Baysox improved to 48-36.
The Senators continue the four-game homestand Wednesday against the Baysox. Game time is 6:35 PM with RHP Craig Stammen (0-1, 2.70 ERA) facing Bowie RHP David Hernandez (5-1, 2.83 ERA).
