Johnstown, PA - Members of your community will be honored for their life, work and advocacy on behalf of the 54.6 million disabled Americans, during Disability Awareness Night July 9, before the Trenton Thunder game at Waterfront Park.

Thunder fans who are interested in attending Disability Awareness Night are invited to contact Thunder Ticket & Events Coordinator Stephanie Bissell at 609-394-3300 ext. 156 and mention Disability Awareness Night to obtain a special $7 ticket rate.

The event is hosted by EP Global Communications, Inc., publisher of Exceptional Parent magazine. At home plate, the EP Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Maureen Fallon Walsh.

Walsh has been with the Devereux Foundation for 25 years. Starting out as the creator of community based programs her skills and leadership led her to become the foundation's first female executive directors as well as enabling her to open the Devereux New Jersey Center for Autism in Bridgeton, NJ.

Joseph M. Valenzano, president and CEO of EP Global Communications, Inc. says, "Our goal is to help all Americans understand that we will become a stronger nation and better human beings when we learn to regard people with disabilities and special needs as people to be respected, not as problems to be confronted."

MassMutual Financial Group and its SpecialCaresm program has been the exclusive national financial services sponsor of Disability Awareness Night since 2003. The First Financial Group and Faulkner Financial are excited to be a part of this event.

"Our sponsorship of this Disability Awareness Night deepens MassMutual's commitment to supporting people with disabilities and other special needs and their families," says Harris Fishman, president of First Financial Group and general agent of Mass Mutual.

"Through our work with EP, Easter Seals and our specially trained and certified SpecialCaresm planners, we are trying to raise the general awareness of the unique needs of this population and provide the means for them to develop a life plan that will enable a special needs family to obtain the best quality of life possible."

Disability Awareness Night began in 2002 when Exceptional Parent magazine combined forces with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox to create the first event of its kind. The event now encompasses both Major and Minor League baseball venues, the NBA and NASCAR.

EP Global Communications, Inc. is a 37-year-old award-winning publishing and communications company that provides information for families and professionals involved in the care and development of people with disabilities and special healthcare needs through the use of Exceptional Parent magazine, www.eparent.com, EP Bookstore, EP LiveOnline and community outreach programs such as the national Disability Awareness Night campaign.
