Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Sunday afternoon in Erie, the Senators parlayed two home runs into a 3-1 win over Erie. Jose Lozada and Justin Bloxom provided all the offense the pitching staff would need in the Senators eighth straight win. With the win, Harrisburg moves a season-high eight games over .500 at 48-40.

Ryan Perry started and was the winning pitcher for the Sens, going five shutout innings and allowing just two hits. In the top of the fifth inning with Sandy Leon at first, Jose Lozada lined a two-run home run over the fence in right giving the Sens a 2-0 lead.

Perry stranded two Erie runners in scoring position in the second, another in the third, fourth and fifth with the runner in the fifth reaching on a lead-off but advancing no further.

Cory VanAllen came on and faced just six batters in two perfect innings of relief. Erik Davis walked a batter in the eighth, but nothing came of the walk.

In the ninth with two outs, Justin Bloxom homered to right giving Harrisburg a 3-0 lead. It was his second home run in the ninth inning in as many games.

Zech Zinicola earned the save, allowing a two-out solo home run to Rawley Bishop that broke up the shutout.

With his single in the second inning, Chris Rahl extended his hitting streak to ten games.

The Senators close out the mythical first half of the season tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. with LH Danny Rosenbaum on the hill. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on all mobile devices through the iHeart Radio app beginning at 6:45 p.m.
