EL1 Harrisburg Senators

Senators Take Series from Altoona

July 6, 2015 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators, which were shutout Sunday by Altoona, returned the favor Monday by winning 3-0 over the Curve at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Senators (41-43) have won four consecutive series. The Senators also took the season series from Altoona, winning 11 of the 20 meetings.

Dakota Bacus was the story for Harrisburg as he threw eight shutout innings, scattering six hits, walking none and striking out four. The eight innings were a career-high for Bacus, who threw 66 of his 104 pitches for strikes and lowered his ERA to 2.95 through 10 appearances with Harrisburg. Altoona had just three at-bats with runners in scoring position against Bacus.

Meanwhile, it took some time for the Senators offense to kick into gear as it recorded a leadoff double in the first and second innings, but did not score. The Senators also stranded runners on first and third in the fourth inning before leaving the bases loaded in the fifth. However, in the sixth, the Senators loaded the bases with one out on three consecutive singles. Wilmer Difo then had a two-run infield single as he hit a comebacker to Altoona pitcher Steven Brault, who deflected the ball to an open area on the right side of the infield. Jose Lozada then walked to reload the bases and Brian Goodwin drove in a third run when he dribbled a slow ground ball up the third base line for an infield hit.

Difo was 3-for-5 with two RBI and Goodwin was 2-for-5 with an RBI. All eight starting position players recorded a hit, and as a team had 11 knocks. Cutter Dykstra and Matt Skole both doubled in the game.

Harrisburg now travels to Richmond to take on the Flying Squirrels in a three-game set. Tuesday night's first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m and the pregame show will begin at 6:50 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
