
Schimpf Homers, Drives in Five in 9-1 Win

MANCHESTER, NH - Ryan Schimpf homered and drove in five runs and John Anderson won his third consecutive decision as the Fisher Cats completed a sweep of New Britain with a 9-1 win on Monday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Anderson (4-3) allowed one run in seven innings. He allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out three. He had not allowed a run in 15.1 innings before the Rock Cats scored in the seventh.
New Hampshire (41-40) took the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Jon Berti singled, stole second, and scored on a double by Schimpf.
Schimpf ripped a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning for a 4-0 lead. Jon Berti and Dwight Smith Jr. singled ahead of the New Hampshire third baseman's 11th home run of the season.
The Fisher Cats stretched the lead out in the bottom of the fifth inning, using four extra-base hits to score five times. Dalton Pompey singled and was bunted to second by Berti. Smith Jr followed with a single. The next three batters produced runs with doubles...Schimpf knocked in Pompey, Nolan plated Smith and Schimpf, and Hobson doubled home Nolan. Ian Parmley plated the final run with a triple for a 9-0 lead.
The Rock Cats (42-41) scored in the seventh. Noel Cuevas, who went 3-for-4, doubled home Pat Valaika, who had singled.
Jimmy Cordero worked a scoreless eighth inning for the Fisher Cats and Chad Girodo finished up the fourth consecutive win for New Hampshire.
The Fisher Cats open a three-game series with Trenton on Tuesday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
