Senators Matt Skole Named Eastern League Player of the Week

HARRISBURG, PA. - The Eastern League announced today that Harrisburg Senators' 1B/3B Matt Skole has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of June 29th - July 5th. The Senators' slugger is the first Harrisburg position player to win player of the week honors this season. He joins LHP Richard Bleier, who won pitcher of the week on for May 18th - May 24th, as Senators' to win weekly awards.

Skole hit .462 (12-for-26) with a league-high six extra-base hits and 20 total bases for the week. He laced five doubles, hit a home run and drove in eight runs in seven games. The highlight of Skole's week came on Wednesday vs. Richmond when he was 4-for-6 with two singles, a home run and a walk-off RBI double in the 13th inning of Harrisburg's 6-5 win over the Flying Squirrels.

Skole, who was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 5th round of the 2011 draft from Georgia Tech, has played all season with the Senators. On the year, Skole is hitting .248 with 11 home runs and 50 RBI. Since June 9 (26 games), he is hitting .355 with eight doubles, three home runs and 26 RBI. Skole is currently tied for fourth in home runs in the Eastern League and is third in RBI.
