Senators Stumble Late in 5-4 Loss to Reading

The Senators (38-24) dropped the final game of their three-game series with Reading (34-25) 5-4 in 10 innings. Harrisburg led 4-2 into the bottom of the ninth when Reading scored twice on a two-out two run home run to tie the game. The Senators failed to score the free runner in the 10th and Reading did, on a two-out single, to walk off the Senators. It was the Sens second walk off loss this season.

Turning Point

With Aaron Barrett on the mound and leading 4-2 into the bottom of the ninth, he retired the first two hitters before Grenny Cumana reached on an infield hit. That allowed Cornelius Randolph to come to the plate and he hit a 2-1 pitch out of the park to left field, tying the game at four. Reading went on to win in the 10th inning.

On Capitol Hill

- Mario Sanchez started for the Senators and pitched the first six innings, allowing just two hits and one run.

- Jordan Mills and Bryan Bonnell followed with two scoreless innings, combining to strike out five.

- Aaron Barrett allowed a two-out two run home run in the ninth.

- Ronald Pena pitched the 10th and allowed the free runner to score on a two-out single.

With the Gavel

- Adrian Sanchez hit a two-run home run in the first inning.

- Rhett Wiseman had two hits and drove in two runs with a double.

Filibusters

- The Senators lost a series for just the sixth time in 19 series played.

- It was the Sens second walk-off loss this season.

After an off-day Monday, the Senators begin a three-game series Tuesday night against Richmond at 6:35 p.m. from The Diamond in Richmond. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 6:20 p.m.
