Trenton Thunder News Release

Three Thunder pitchers combined to shut out the Erie SeaWolves and got the needed run support on a Rashad Crawford homer in a 1-0 win Sunday afternoon at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Thunder (34-24) starter Trevor Stephan (1-3) turned in one of his best starts of the season, holding Erie to two hits over five scoreless innings. The right-hander retired nine of the first ten batters he faced and 14 of 16 total.

Crawford launched a solo home run off SeaWolves (28-29) starter Kyle Funkhouser (0-1) in the bottom of the third inning, breaking a string of eight batters retired to begin Funkhouser's outing. Erie's starter struck out eight over five innings and went on to retire 16 of the 18 batters he faced.

Anthony Castro pitched the final three innings for Erie, allowing just one hit and keeping the game within reach for the SeaWolves.

After Brady Lail and Will Carter continued to hold Erie scoreless through the eighth, the SeaWolves posed a threat in the ninth inning, loading the bases against Carter with one out. But the Thunder reliever rebounded to strike out Josh Lester and induced a game-ending flyout to center field by Cam Gibson, ending a three-game Thunder losing streak.

Your Thunder continue their homestand on Monday night at 7 p.m. against the SeaWolves. RHP Adonis Rosa (3-1, 3.40) will start for the Thunder, and RHP Logan Shore (2-5, 4.47) will go for Erie. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
