Harrisburg Senators News Release
The seventh consecutive loss for the Harrisburg Senators came in heartbreak fashion as the New Britain Rock Cats won 5-4 on a walk-off two-run single by Tom Murphy, Tuesday night at New Britain Stadium. The loss drops Harrisburg's record to 22-35 on the season.
Harrisburg's starter Dakota Bacus battled his way through six innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Bacus has now recorded three quality starts in four starts with Harrisburg. Paul Demny entered with Harrisburg leading 4-2, and after pitching a scoreless seventh inning, he allowed an RBI double in the eighth inning. The run allowed by Demny was his first surrendered in 18 innings and cut Harrisburg's lead to one while situating runners on second and third with two outs in the eighth inning. Demny walked the next hitter, and exited after 1.2 innings, in which he allowed just one hit, but walked four. Hector Ambriz entered and induced a popup to end the eighth inning. Ambriz then recorded the first two outs of the ninth before allowing a double and a walk. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch with the following batter, Murphy, at the plate. Murphy came through with a base hit into right field that allowed the game-tying and game-winning run to score.
The Senators jumped on New Britain early as Wilmer Difo and Tony Renda singled to begin the game, and Brian Goodwin walked to load the bases. However, Harrisburg managed just one run as Kevin Heyes hit a sacrifice fly, and two groundouts followed. The Senators added three runs in the fourth inning as Derrick Robinson singled in a run, and then scored on an RBI double by Harrisburg's pitcher, Bacus. Renda scored Bacus later in the inning with an RBI single to push Harrisburg in front 4-0 after four innings.
Tomorrow night's game will begin once again at 6:35 p.m. Austin Voth will be on the hill for Harrisburg against New Britain's Matt Flemer. The pregame show will start at 6:20 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
